Valdichiana 2025: Where Culture, Music and Tradition Come Alive This Summer
2025 marks a remarkable year for the Valdichiana Senese, named Tuscany’s Capital of Culture
This recognition celebrates the territory’s commitment to enhancing its rich historical, artistic, and cultural heritage, and now the Valdichiana Senese stands out at the regional level with an unprecedented cultural program.
A Widespread Cultural Program
With over 800 events planned, the Valdichiana 2025 program involves all ten municipalities of the Valdichiana Senese Union: Cetona, Chianciano Terme, Chiusi, Montepulciano, Pienza, San Casciano dei Bagni, Sarteano, Sinalunga, Torrita di Siena, and Trequanda. The program embraces all forms of art—music, theater, dance, literature, visual arts, archaeology, and cinema—offering an accessible cultural experience for everyone.
Prestigious Collaborations
Valdichiana 2025 benefits from partnerships with important cultural institutions:
-
Siena Jazz: With the “Siena Jazz in Valdichiana” series, young talents and established artists perform in concerts that highlight the musical heritage of the territory.
-
Chigiana Music Academy: The “Chigiana Off The Wall” series features classical music concerts in evocative venues.
Unmissable Summer Events
In addition to events already underway, many others will fill the calendar in the coming summer months:
-
Cetona – Corsa delle Brocche (July 25–27): This event commemorates the village’s historical water supply system. It features a symbolic and physical challenge between the town’s districts: women race balancing jugs on their heads, while men compete in a relay carrying water containers. A historical parade, drummers, and flag-throwers complete the scene.
-
Chianciano Terme – Festa della Musica (July 24–27): Four days of music and local flavors in Parco Fucoli. The festival hosts both renowned artists and emerging talents, offering rich food options and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for those who love to blend nature, culture, and fun.
-
Chiusi – Orizzonti Festival (July 27 – August 3): A multidisciplinary festival that has brought theater, music, literature, performances, and visual arts to Chiusi for over 20 years. The ancient city’s historical spaces become stages for artistic interpretations of the present.
-
Montepulciano – Calici di Stelle (August 10): On the magical night of San Lorenzo, Montepulciano’s historic center sparkles with wine tastings under the stars. Enjoy music and toasts with breathtaking views of the Valdichiana hills.
-
Pienza – Pienza International Music Fest (until July 13): The town hosts classical, early, and modern music concerts in stunning venues like the Cathedral and historic cloisters. A perfect occasion to experience the harmony between art, landscape, and beauty.
-
San Casciano dei Bagni – La Terrazza (until September 6): A series of free talks with prominent voices from culture, journalism, and science. “La Terrazza” is an open-air salon for thoughtful dialogue on past, present, and future in a town known for both its thermal charm and intellectual spirit.
-
Sarteano – Monteverdi Concerts (throughout summer): A refined tribute to Claudio Monteverdi with concerts and performances held in the Church of Sant'Andrea, in Castiglioncello del Trinoro, featuring a wide range of music.
-
Sinalunga – L’IncantaBorgo (July 16–20): Five magical evenings with acrobats, jugglers, fire shows, and magic that transform Sinalunga’s historic center into an enchanted world. A festival for all ages, where fantasy comes alive among ancient stones.
-
Torrita di Siena – Cinema d’Estate (August 5): Montefollonico will host a screening of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, the sequel to the 1988 classic by Tim Burton, as part of the shared summer film festival that turns town squares into social cinemas.
-
Trequanda – Tre Gotti al Campino (August 14–17): In Parco Pancirolli, the artisanal beer and indie music festival returns. Dedicated to promoting the local and national music scene, the event hosts emerging and established bands in a warm atmosphere. It also features wine tastings and regional food, offering a multisensory experience of art, flavor, and tradition.
