Castelmuzio ring, passing through Sant'Anna in Camprena and Pienza

The trail starts from Castelmuzio, a medieval “living-room village” that has remained almost intact. Once you have taken Via della Trove, descend into the valley covered by olive trees, while in the distance the tower of the Monastery of Sant'Anna in Camprena will appear in front of you.

After crossing the Trove creek, near the mill of Sant'Anna, you will find a white road going up into the woods. Among cypresses, oaks and farms, you will reach the monastery esplanade, where you will easily recognize some scenes from the famous movie "The English Patient". Once you reach the provincial road, turn to the right and then left, to a small road that goes down to the Podere Lama and then to the Trove creek. At this point, you can go directly to Castelmuzio passing through the same route as before, or deviate to Podere Estia, reaching the Romanesque church of Santo Stefano in Cennano, whose original structure is from before the year 1000. The stretch of road that rejoins Castelmuzio from the Pieve di Santo Stefano concludes this beautiful itinerary.
