Carriera di San Martino

Every year, on the closest Sunday to 11 November, the 9 districts of Sinalunga compete in the traditional cart race, the celebration dedicated to the patron saint San Martino. The first weekend of the celebration is made of propitiatory moments, extraction of the batteries of departure and rediscovery of the ancient traditions of the village. The second one is instead dedicated to the real Carriera. Each Rione has 4 carts available, plus one in reserve. The Saturday morning is dedicated to the assembly of the boxes, while in the afternoon there are general tests. On Sunday morning the characteristics of the carts are checked, the crews blessed and the first 12 descents are made; in the afternoon the finals take place. The winning Ward is awarded with cups and a banner painted by a local painter.

The Carriera 2025 is scheduled for 11.30 a.m. on November 15th in Piazza Gabribaldi.
