The Valdichiana Senese as a European sustainability experimentation laboratory
Valdichiana4Green is an experimental European project (funded by Futural under the Horizon Europe program) designed to guide the Valdichiana Senese toward an increasingly sustainable, innovative, and shared development model. This project unites tourism, agri-food, local businesses, and communities, with the goal of transforming the ecological and digital transition into a concrete opportunity for sustainable development for the region.
Digital tools and local participation
The project provides tourism and agri-food businesses in the Valdichiana Senese area with digital tools and dedicated support. These include the Going Green Check, a software program that allows businesses to self-assess their sustainability levels, learn about relevant international standards, and identify potential certification pathways. This is complemented by the Green Travel Map, a European map that highlights businesses committed to green initiatives. Valdichiana4Green is more than just technology: through meetings, training, workshops, and co-design opportunities, local stakeholders engage in dialogue to build a shared model capable of looking to the future without losing ties to the local identity.
