Since years, such enterprises open their doors to whoever wants to experience the tradition in first person. For those who love wine, an opportunity such as the one of the Breakfast of the harvest it’s unmissable, a delicious way to discover the production process of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG. But if wine it’s not for you, no worries, the local olive oil mills will be very willing to host you. Together with them you’ll join the Harvest of the olives and taste the goodness of a typical bruschetta with fresh oil.

Unmissable events

The autumnal season in Valdichiana Senese also offers a good variety of events. Everything starts with the Festa dell’Uva e del Vino di Chiusi three days of music, food and wine, enjoyment and culture in the last weekend of September. Then, with the beginning of October, it’s the turn of the  MontepulcianoRun, three days of competitive and non-competitive running sportive events  that will let you appreciate the beautiful frame of Montepulciano from an unusual point of view. In the same weekend and for the following one, it’s the turn of the Fiera alla Pieve di Sinalunga, a traditional event that has a hundred years long story. If you decide to join it, you’ll see stand of various types, where typical products are merged with artisan productions. Last but not least, is the New Olive Oil Festival, an event entirely dedicated to the Tuscan oil.
 

Nature to discover

To live the autumn like a real local in Valdichiana Senese means to spend much time in nature. Not only wine and oil, but also mushrooms and chestnuts are typical fruits of this season and in Valdichiana Senese to spend entire days “hunting” them is a real tradition. If you like the idea, a comfortable outfit and a good dose of patience is all you need and who knows, maybe with a little luck, you’ll bring home a good prey. If  you instead prefer to live nature in tranquility, in this corner of Tuscany there’s a wide range of trails to be traversed by bicycle or on foot, places where to escape from the rapid rhythms of the daily life and find serendipity.
