Illustrious Francesco Redi, a scholar of the seventeenth century, in his dithyramb Bacchus in Tuscany decreed that “Montepulciano is the king of all wines“. Perhaps the Etruscans themselves, namely the very first founders of this town, had understood how precious the product of the vine was in this strip of land, the Valdichiana Senese, so much that they worshiped it during their Bacchic feasts. In the Middle Ages, the lords of this small town were worthy of it: they dug cellars in the tuff, to preserve the heady nectar of the gods.
The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has always been celebrated and appreciated for its powerful and persuasive qualities, as well as for its unmistakable ruby color.
