An enchanting flat route crossing two millennia of history. The trail descends towards the Astrone and is dotted with little churches, and once also with mills, no less than 18, of which only two ruins are visible today.
The seven little churches were probably built on pagan sites dedicated to the worship of water. After the gate of San Martino, taking the road to the cemetery, you will meet the first one: the "Chiesina della Concia", of which only the tympanum is visible. Continuing, you will meet the Church of Santa Vittoria, deconsecrated and without the roof; the church of the Crucifix, which is now a private home; the votive niche of the "Madonna dell'Uccellino [Our Lady of the Little Bird]"; the private church of the Borselli family; the votive niche of the "Madonna del Maldicapo [Our Lady of the Headache]", and finally the beautiful church of the Spiagge, which is now private. Going beyond the ruins of the old mills, following the overpowering flow of the falling water, you will arrive at the remains of the Roman thermal baths of Peschiera Giannini, whose grandeur is attested by a 36-meter wall. From there, you can go back to the village, following the enchanting path of the "vie cupe [dark streets]", i.e. roads of Etruscan origin, featuring walls carved in the high travertine cliffs.
